Dictionary of Ichthyology
Over 23,000 terms defined. An ongoing project
with new terms being defined and illustrations added continually.
Systematics and Associated Studies
Systematic studies are being
carried out on Canadian and Southwest Asian fishes, both marine and
freshwater. The aim is to resolve systematic problems of various taxa,
describe new species, investigate their zoogeography, biodiversity and
conservation status, and to present this new data as conference papers
and posters, reports, books, web sites and research papers. This work
is collections-based and also involves field work. A wide variety of
techniques is utilised including meristics and morphometrics,
radiography, osteology and molecular analyses. Collaborators vary with
the projects and taxa over time but include scientists from Canada,
Europe and Asia. Published papers are in the Curriculum Vitae.
Arctic Marine Fishes of Canada
Scheduled to be completed soon (!? December
2010). This book covers over 190
species in 48 families. Each species has a line figure, a spot distribution map,
and sections on the scientific name, common names, taxonomy, description, habitat,
biology, commercial importance, distribution and sources. There is also a
Dedication to the late Don E. McAllister, an Introduction covering the
environment, history of research, habitats, climate, fisheries, scientific
names, fish structure, collecting and preserving fishes, and traditional
ecological knowledge, Checklists, Keys, a Glossary and Bibliographies.
This is a partnership with Dr. J. D. Reist at Fisheries and Oceans
Canada, Winnipeg and has contributions from other scientists at the
Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa, the University of Copenhagen,
Denmark and the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg.

Fishes of Canada: Annotated Checklist
A list of the Latin, English and French names
of all fishes reported from Canadian fresh and marine waters. New work comprised
