Fishes of Canada's National Capital Region
Introduction
This work is a guide to the fishes found in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Canada and can be accessed through the links above. The region is encompassed by a circle of 50 km radius centred on the Peace Tower of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa, extending into Ontario and Québec. An earlier work by Coad and McAllister (1975) is now dated and requires a revision.
This site is being actively worked on as more localities are surveyed for fish distributions, photographs and illustrations are made and added, and new and old literature sources are incorporated in the text and analysed for mapping. Most illustrations are of fishes and localities from within the NCR although some are from other sources as noted when a cursor is placed over them.
