Ebisu = one of the seven Japanese Gods of Happiness, the protector of fishermen, symbolised by an angling rod and a large fish held in his hand (after Holder and Jordan's "Fish Stories: Alleged and Experienced, with a Little History Natural and Unnatural", 1909).
