Dictionary of Ichthyology

angling = fishing with a rod and reel or a rod and line, usually for sport but also an effective way to catch some species for research purposes (or so ichthyologists maintain)(labelled Ninevites fishing but looks Egyptian).

From Whymper's "The Fisheries of the World", 1883.
